Darkcrowned is a melodic death metal act hailing from the Finnish metal
capital, Oulu. The music is a mixture of melodies and aggression
combined as a distinctive package. The influence of many other styles
of metal is constantly present, since all the band members listen to a
really wide variety of different music styles. In addition to the
aggressive guitar riffs and blasting drums, the compositions
include masses of small keyboard elements, which help creating the
music it's diverse atmosphere.
Darkcrowned was founded in 2002 as a black metal endeavour by Eavral
vocalist & guitarist J. Perttunen. Expanding the solo venture into
a full band project, and shifting towards a death metal direction,
further musicians were drafted in the form of drummer M.
Törmä and bassist T. Söderlund, the latter another
Eavral member. Lead guitarist H. Niemisalo was enlisted shortly after
for recording of the demo 'A Nihilation'. The demo was finished in May
2004 and received fairly good reviews in some of the major metal medias
in Finland.
In the fall of 2004, vocalist J. Aunola was asked to do the vocals for
Darkcrowned. Aunola agreed and became a full member of the band. In December
2005, Jussi Harju (previously in To The Darker Grounds) joined the
group as a fulltime keyboard player. Sadly enough, Harju was forced to
move to Sweden after just a few months and he was let go. His
replacement turned out to be J. Sauvola from the band Silent threnody.
